Originally from British Columbia, Canada, Mike played a number of sports growing up. As a teenager, Mike was involved in competitive swimming, select team soccer, and basketball and went on to play college basketball. Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Education in Sports Administration. Mike is also a certified Level 1 Youth Fitness Specialist through the International Youth Conditioning Association.
Mike has been involved in coaching youth, high school and college athletes for over 20 years. His first coaching job was a freshmen boys basketball team at New Westminster Secondary School. He has also coached women’s club soccer team at the university level & the varsity girls’ basketball team at Brazos Christian School in Bryan, Texas.
Mike has been a Professor in the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University for 10 years. Mike has taught thousands of young people how to get fit and make regular exercise part of a healthy lifestyle. Mike’s passion is helping all people reach their wellness goals. Mike currently lives in College Station, Texas with his wife Amy and their 4 children. He is one of the owners of Family Time Fitness, helping provide homeschool families with physical education resources.
